Government Spins over Iraq Again

The Government spin machine seems to have launched into overdrive today, slinging whatever mud they possibly can at the Conservatives for daring to suggest they might actually support an inquiry into the Iraq War.

There can only be one reason for this, it is not because of the weakness of the Conservative argument. Despite supporting the war, they have consistently asked for a far reaching inquiry into the decisions leading up to the invasion and have consistently been told that Hutton and Butler will have to do, despite them both having a very limited scope. The reason is that Blair is running scared.

Any inquiry should have at its heart one very basic question - why was there one set of intelligence for the forces in Iraq saying there was no threat from WMD, whilst in the UK we were being fed the line that there was a threat?
