It's not just Youth Custody that is in crisis

This BBC report outlines the crisis that currently exists in Youth Custody.

It actually only tells part of the tale. The alternative to custody is of course, Community Orders.

Unfortunately that too seems to be a system in crisis. I was advised by someone in the know that many of the probation services which oversee these Orders are regularly sending probationers home without doing any work because they can no longer provide staff to oversee their work and that much of the written reporting is now done verbally because of time pressure issues.

Is there any Government organisation that does not have a cash crisis?
