Ruth Kelly Gets it Wrong Again

Ruth Kelly has decided that, in the forthcoming White Paper on Local Government, Whitehall are going to tell local authorities how to engage with people better.

When it comes down to it, if local authorities are not engaging sufficiently and are not doing the job they are there to do, the local people can vote to get rid of them, that is the ultimate act of Community engagement.

Each local Council has its own unique problems with Communications, how on earth can Whitehall dictate any sort of solution that is right for all?
