Saving a friend by condemning a country

If the reports that Lord Goldsmith intends to have the final say on prosecutions in the Cash for Peerages enquiry are true it will be a sad day. Democracy in Britain is in a difficult position and of Goldsmith acts to protect his colleague and appointer, it will send a horrific signal to people in Britain that our politicians truly are acting in their own self-interest and against the wishes of the state. To many it will be the ultimate proof of what they have been saying for years. Lord Goldsmith will be saving his friend and condemning a Country.

One final point, if this were a local authority issue, there can be no doubt that the Standards Board would already be involved. I hate this sort of double-standards.
