Putting issues above political positioning

This article is interesting, not because it offers anything new from the Conservative Party, but because David Cameron seems to be going some way to highlight that the position on immigration has not changed.

I think this is perhaps the start of the party making a point that they are not just taking up centre ground issues above all else, but that they will take the right position on the right issues.

I will always contend that being right wing, left wing, centre-left or whatever daft label you want to put on something is not about what issues you deal with, but how you deal with them. The Conservatives have always excelled at taking up the big issues of the time and doing what it takes to deal with them. It is what Maggie did post 1979 and it is what David Cameron will do.
