Reasons why we should holiday in Britain because we want to

Unlike Gordon Brown, when I take a holiday in Britain it is because I want to, not to avoid criticism. (If the press really were worth their salt they would have mentioned that all the evidence suggests his holiday choice this year was manipulation).

This August Bank holiday, whilst my kids were away enjoying the Reading Festival, I have been away with my good lady living under canvas in Edale (famous for being the start of the Pennine Way). It is a perfect reason why people should want to holiday in the UK.

The scenery around Edale is amazing, of course it is better if you can find the way to the top of Kinder Scout or Brown Top. But even sitting outside a tent looking around at the hills was just awesome, as was the friendliness of the locals and the hospitality at both the Nags Head and the Ramblers Inn.

It is a while since we went camping, but we were truly inspired. Britain is a fantastic place.
