Human Rights Act - Mr and Mrs Blair were wrong

The disgraceful decision to stop the deportation of Philip Lawrence's murderer is confirmation that the Human Rights Act has turned out to be everything the Blairs promised it wouldn't be.

Remember that Mrs Blair wrote articles in leading newspapers supporting the Human Rights Act (I think it was the Times) even though she was set to make a packet out of it.

One of the promises was that it would not be a lawyers' charter. Well a lawyer made money from standing up in court and defending Learco Chindamo and made a case that effectively says to the man on the Clapham omnibus that a murderer's rights are more important than those of the victim's widow.

No doubt that same lawyer will make more money out of the appeal, no doubt it is the taxpayer who will pay the bill. I wonder if that lawyer can look himself in the mirror.
