Is Brown's Time Going to Pass

There is a battle going on behind the scenes in the Labour Party. No surprise really. The public face is all about whose side can best combine pleading for unity and making the case for their man.

This is a critical time for the Labour Party and it may also be make or break time for Gordon Brown. I supect that many of the ex-Councillor's and disappointed activists want a change - certainly that is what the Labour Blogs are saying. If Gordon Brown fails them and does nothing, he may start to lose support because of his lack of bottle. It is interesting to note that much of the ground swell is about complete change, not a switch from one New Labour fanatic to another, if that feeling develops it may provide an opening for a leftist candidate like Hilary Benn to emerge.

As far as I am concerned Blair has been a disastrous PM and the sooner he goes the better. But Gordon Brown must decide whether his loyalties lie with Blair or with the Labour Party grass roots. If it is the latter, he needs to show some guts otherwise his time may well pass.
