Olympic bid

I really want our Olympic bid to be succesful it will really give Britain an opportunity to show how Great it is. But yesterday, to me, was not a good start. Tony Blair said in his interview after hearing we had got through the first round that London was "one of the best, if not the best City in the world."

Oy!! Tony! No!! When you talk up England and London and our ability to stage this sort of event, there are no compromises, no half measures. Just say London is the greatest city in the world FULL STOP. Putting the inference that someone might be better leaves a gap for someone else to fill. But I think that this Government will hedge its bets all the way, always leaving some sort of face saver for them - because that is the Government they are.
