Your Official Tactical Vote

ree

You will see and hear many comments about who is the best tactical vote to stop the Conservatives and to stop Reform UK in this election - I have already seen a few, but basically they are just hyperbole and, mostly a desperate attempt to drag those last few votes out of people.

How would you like a recommendation that has some official, researched endorsement? There are two websites that do this (actually they are pretty much the same one), stopthetories.vote and stopreformuk.vote. Both have officially endorsed me as the best tactical vote for this election. You can see the evidence here.

This wasn't just a random decision based on some bot or other, before they made the endorsement they contacted me and had a long conversation where we discussed this election, the last one that I stood in and what I stood for.

So - it's official, if you don't want the Conservatives to win, the best vote is for me and, if you don't want Reform UK to win, the best vote is for me.

I want to make a few points here. The first is, why would you want to vote Conservative? Let's set aside the disastrous state of the party Nationally and consider what is happening locally. We have had by=election after by-election in Whittlesey after Conservative Councillors have stood down amid accusations of bullying. The Councillor who resigned to force this election did so by highlighting her issue in the local press and used this quote:

“If I wanted to be in a playground, I’d work in a nursery. I refuse to waste any more of my time on clowns with crayons”

These by-elections cost you money but, more importantly, whilst all this is going on, they are not focussed on what matters - which is improving our lives - you deserve better.

The second point is - why would you vote Reform U?. In fact, I understand why people might do it - our politics is in an absolute mess. But Reform are not the answer. Firstly, the evidence from around the country is that where they are involved in local councils they are not having an impact and there are councillors everywhere resigning, standing down from cabinet positions or being dismissed from Reform UK for all sorts of reasons - here is the evidence.

In Cambridgeshire we have a reform Councillor who is in court for publishing derogatory comments about another candidate in the recent County Council elections and the same individual being investigated for insulting our children in care.

There is a reality which is that I wish people didn't have to vote tactically, but whilst we keep the same voting system it is a necessary part of our democracy.

My promise to you is that my sole reason for standing is that I want to make Whittlesey and Fenland a better place, but also that I believe my 20 plus years of experience as a Councillor and working with local government means that I can have an impact straight away. There is already evidence of this.

Many of you have read the results of the by-election yesterday, but I'll repeat it anyway. The results for the Town Council and the District Council election were very similar, so I'll just post the
