The GB Eight Minutes
I for one don't understand the criticism of the Britain's eight minute slot at the closing ceremony.
In the main, I am with Eamonn Holmes in thinking that these huge ceremonies are a waste of time, but the short time Great Britain had they successfully managed to highlight a number of things that we are renowned for. We created football, and David Beckham is the biggest football icon in the world, Jimmy Page is a fantastic representation of all that has always been great about British rock music and the double-decker bus is synonymous with London.
I don't understand why Leona Lewis was there, unless we are keen to congratulate ourselves on our obsession with the instant celebrity culture, but overall I think it was about right
