LGA Conference - Localism is all

The core message at the LGA Conference was all about localism. It was interesting that all 3 leaders said pretty much the same thing.

Personally I can't see how Hazel Blears could have the nerve to stand on a platform and talk about localism. Some of the things they have done recently (OneApp and National Challenge are perfect examples of centralist p0licies that have caused loads of local harm).

David Cameron was superb on the last day, especially in answering questions. Nick Clegg was competent but dull and went into loads of unnecessary detail about finance which meant, in the end, he wasn't able to answer questions. Some cynics thought that the sudden decision not to take questions at the end of Clegg's speech was planned. Personally, judging by the look on Nick Clegg's face, I don't think it was - I also suspect there was a Lib Dem employee or two who had their runes read for them afterwards because it didn't look good.

Hazel Blears just spouted Government rubbish.
