Disgusted of Cambridgeshire

Why why did the Television Media in the UK have to show those horrific pictures of Saddam having a noose placed around his neck?

I can understand the need to show it in Iraq, as evidence that they did actually do what they claimed, but those pictures were disturbing and there was no need to show them over here.

I cannot mourn for the passing of Saddam, nor do I regret the fact that he was executed by the State, even though I have real reservations about the death penalty.

I can, however, mourn the death of responsible television journalism in the UK.

What bugs you about it.

Everyone has to go some time. He had to go for the good of the country, perhaps the world.

Are we urban dwellers so removed from the facts of life that we are disgusted to see how a summary end is hastened?

I find no pleasure in the execution of the man. Neither am I disgusted.

Martin, It's a while since I've visited your blog, but I can see your long walks have paid off and you look so much more youthful in your pic.

Just want to wish you a happy New Year and say keep up the good work. Trudy told me she had called you re your support for the potholes in her road, she is truly inspirational and deserves all the support she can get.

I do not see the point in showing a video of a man having a noose placed around his neck moments before he was executed.

It has nothing to do with the rights and wrongs of the act, more that there was no need for the British media to show the pictures, it added nothing to the story, but did provide sensationalism.

IMHO it did not need to be shown over here and shoud not have been.
