His Mouth Says No - His Head Says Yes

Yesterday, David Milliband was once again making noises that he would not stand against Gordon Brown. I believe this is Moribund hedging his bets in case it goes wrong.

Remember that the way the leadership election works makes it easy for David Milliband to "change his mind" after loads of MPs have publicly declared their support.

Moribund Not to Stand

David Moribund reckons he isn't going to stand. More spin. Behind the scenes it is all in place.

The way the Labour leadership system works, Mr Moribund doesn't have to announce he is standing for the signatures to be collected. The election will start, signatures will be collected and published and he will change his mind because of demand.

Milliband Will Run - He Just Wants to Pretend It Is For a Different Reason

Channel 4 News have run this article, which contains the quote:

"Allies of the Environment Secretary David Miliband have told this programme he "will not be seduced into running by Blairites.

But if the mainstream of the party believe he is the best man to take on David Cameron and win "we know he is persuadable.""

Isn't this an admission that the Blairites are trying to lure him into standing?

The real message is that David Moribund will be running, but before he announces his intention his supporters are trying to spin the message from "Anyone but Brown" (the real reason) to "It's me or Cameron"

I have said it before and I will say it again, let's stop pretending - Moribund will run.

Milliband will stand, let's stop pretending otherwise

I have seen quite a lot of stuff around over the last few days suggesting that David Milliband could/might stand against Brown etc., etc., etc.

It is blatantly obvious that he *is* going to stand, let's all stop pretending; lets start talking about "when" not "if". Don't give in to spin.

It is my growing belief that Gordon Brown put the final nail in his coffin when he chose to tax the poor in the budget and pretend it was a good thing. I am more and more inclined to think that David Moribund is going to be the next PM.

From a Conservative perspective that will be a great thing, because he has no practical nouse whatsoever. From Britain's perespective, it's better than Brown but still a poor deal.
