Don't Say it, Prove it

The Education Secretary, Alan Johnson has denied that the change in policy with regard to paedophiles is a reaction to tabloid pressure, an accusation levelled by the Chief Constable of Dyfed-Powys.

I don't know why the Government makes such statements any more because we ceased to believe them long ago. The only way for Dr Reid to prove it is to come out with a well thought out, well drafted policy which genuinely addresses the widepsread concerns that there are about this change and then give Parliament sufficient time to discuss and analyse it.

The record of New Labour since 1997 suggests this won't happen.
