Did Meacher launch a pre-emptive strike?
Speaking on the Politics Show yesterday, Micheal Meacher made the case for a change in direction for the Labour Party in the way it does its business, highlighting that they are in danger of losing the next election. Meacher is known to be one of the Brown camp, so I wonder if this is him setting the stall out for Brown to launch a leadership bid?
It would be easy to use these comments in a few months as justification for some kind of "stalking horse" because Blair refused to respond to the demands of the Party (and the Unions). It has to be said that there is no chance that Blair will change, we all know it - so why not just get on with the job of getting rid of him now instead of flitting around the edges making silly statements?
