New Labour - schools don't need Leadership

This is a typical New Labour story from the Government News Network.

The Government's manipulation and control of schools has reached a point where it is becoming difficult to find people willing to take on the responsibilities of headship. The Government's response is not to reduce bureaucracy, or look at what it can do to encourage the right people to apply - but to sponsor research that generates the ludicrous piece of Spin that not all schools need a Head.

Judging by the dreadful times schools are having even submitting School Profiles on the DfES system, they need more leadership not less - just to find time to deal with failing Government projects.

10 years as a school Governor in two succesful schools has proven to me that the one thing every school needs is positive leadership. This is typical New Labour trick - trying to spin its way out of its failings.
