Home Secretary on the back foot

I have just been watching the Home Secretary giving evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee. I feel sorry for him, he is really on the back foot, but is being totally uncompomising in his approach. Having to caveat every statistic that he provides on the prisoner release sham, because he doesn't trust them.

I suspect that there is going to be at least one more "night of the long knives", but this time invovling Senior Civil Servants, who must surely share some of the blame in this.
