As predicted yesterday, Reid is now taking it out on Civil Servants, with at least one now sat at home after giving the new Home Secretary one of the many sets of inaccurate figures that seem to have been exposed recently.

I make no complaint about this (even as an ex-Civil Servant myself). However, it is not good enough just to take it out on Civil Servants without the Government accepting their own part in this shambles - after all they are the ones that have been in charge since 1997.

Blair's performance in PMQs today, when he tried to blame the Tories, just shows how weak they are. Wouldn't it do the reputation of politicians the world of good if Blair stood up and said "I got it wrong" - and it wouldn't do him any harm - he's a busted flush anyway.
