Today’s Independent - A rare example of responsible journalism
I recall that Martin Lewis once launched a campaign arguing for a more positive media, suggesting that they should spend more time highlighting what is good because the over-emphasis on the bad and the sensational was a destructive force.
Unfortunately, his very legitimate argument was ridiculed at the time and portrayed as a campaign for more fluffy bunny stories. Then and now I believe he was right in principle. It is therefore heart-warming to see the Independent take a positive tack in today’s headlines. I don’t agree with everything they have highlighted as good, but that is not the point – the point is that this sort of attitude from the press is both rare and to be welcomed.
